Business Accounting: The Debtor and The Creditor.
The Distinction between a Debtor and a Creditor.
Many are the times that most people including my fellow students who take the Business Accounting course as a part and parcel of their studies confuse or mistake me for a person I’m not. Some confuse me for a Debtor even though I’m a Creditor. And others do the total opposite.
Now let me get this straight and clear. I’m a Debtor only if I owe you money or something. On the other hand, I’m a Creditor only if I lend you money or something valuable.
So, don’t ever confuse me or call me a Debtor if I don’t owe you money, unless I do. Likewise, don’t confuse me for a Creditor if at all I never lent you money, unless I did.
The same way, you should never call me an Idol because even though at some point you spotted me standing or sitting idly, my mind was never at any single point idle.
Instead of confusing me and making wrong assumptions, let me tell you a little bit about me.
I'm a Creditor.
First and foremost, I’m a Creditor of my Own. On a daily basis, only a few days that I can’t remember, I credit the banks of my mind, heart and soul with credits — beautiful words that cheer me up and keep me going on my worst and low days. Sometimes even on my high days…
How about you too try and do the same and be your own Creditor? See how that works out for you.
Secondly, though I’m not a banker or a gardener who looks after a garden of a myriad of beautiful flowers, be sure that I will credit the chambers of your heart not with money or the liquid byproduct of metabolism but with words that will cheer and uplift you in your high and low moments. I will also give you the nicest of the flowers whilst you can revel, adore and be amazed at their beautiful scenery and can still smell their pleasant incense. I will do all this for the sake of your good deeds.
I love Credits, Not a Credit. I don’t like a pass either and don’t forget to give me my credits before I pass.
Don't get me wrong, I don't mean to diminish the power of a pass. A pass is not a bad score, though, deep down I fight and shoot for a score higher than the merit so that even if I fall, I will land on a merit and Not a Credit.
To be honest with y’all, I love credits, Not a credit.
I am a Creditor.
I'm Not A Debtor
Always remember this, I’m a Creditor. I credit myself and other people just so I’m not called a Debtor. Unless I owe you money... I’m not a Debtor, the guilty one, a left sided person. Always doing everything on the left side. I mean, I’m a Right person. I eat using my right hand side, kick and skate with my right leg…
I’m a Creditor simply because I love to be right and do the right thing at the right time. And if I was to be recorded (not as a track) but in the books of Accounts, unlike a Debtor who’s always recorded on the left side, I would always be entered on the right hand side of the book. That’s where I belong!
I’m a Creditor Not a Debtor. I love Credits Not a Credit!
After a long day of practicing Business Accounting in Preparation of my Exams, my mind had drifted away from reality and came up with this piece of writing. I hope you got some sense out of it 🙂.
